THE ENVIRONMENT
Patrick Painting believes in a pretty basic environmental theory: Planet Earth is the only one we have. Armed with this knowledge, we approach each project with an eco-friendly attitude. We make every reasonable effort to limit our carbon footprint, eliminate unneeded waste and, at the very least, not make things worse.
How do we do it? Here are our environmental guidelines:
- Buy locally to cut down on fuel used for transportation and to support our local economy.
- Use post-consumer goods whenever we can. These goods are often more expensive, but then again, we haven’t gotten a final number on the cost for a new planet yet.
- Procure only what we will use and recycle as much of our waste as possible back into the post-consumer system. It’s not as fast or easy as just ordering a bigger garbage can, but worthwhile efforts rarely are.
- Use Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)-certified products when possible. These products and associated LEED guidelines help us minimize our environmental footprint without sacrificing quality.
- When it is not practical to use LEED products, audit our procurement and consumption of coatings, and dispose or recycle hazardous materials properly with reputable partners.
- We are proud members of the U.S. Green Building Council.
As we learn about new and better eco-friendly measures, we will strive to be flexible and change as if our very planet depends on it… because it does!
